Hammer and Hand also serves as an incubator for micro business, playing a mentoring role to those members starting out as newly self employed artists & craftspersons . There are about nine members at each location

Of the 50 or so past members, some have become graduates in gold and silversmithing at RMIT, with others achieving distinction as designer-makers in the high street jewellery trade, others hold Diplomas in Jewellery Design.

At both its locations Hammer and Hand is known and loved by locals and visitors alike. Admired for its eclectic jewellery and metal work, ranging through forged iron pieces and stainless steel utensils, to handcrafted leather and metal accessories, polymer and silver clay designs, fine art, sculpture, and art cards, but with the emphasis always on Bench made jewellery and metal smithing.
