Buskers by the Creek 2018

THE fifth annual Buskers By The Creek is set to bring the world’s best kept secrets in singers, musicians and performers into the local spotlight at Australia’s largest busking festival on October 13-14.

The fun-filled Brazilian theme at this years’ event promises to create a tempo de festa carnivale vibe, complete with entertaining Brazilian acts, roaming dancers, sequins and the Brazilian bling the party nation is famous for.

The multi-award winning community event held at the pristine creek-side location that is Winders Park, Currumbin, will see more than 300 Australian and international buskers perform at the two day event, along with a bevy of international food options, a dedicated bar area and Karma Kid’s zone.

The event warms up with pre-festival action on Friday, October 12 for the Battle of the Buskers held at Currumbin Pub where 14 singer/songwriters selected from the pool of busker applicants will have the opportunity to perform for their chance to win a career-changing prize pool.

With buskers warming up their vocal cords from 10am each day, event organisers are inviting entertainment lovers of all ages to come creek-side for a weekend full of great music and inspiring performances, as buskers of all skill levels perform for the love of their craft.

The event will provide a host of international food options for festival goers to enjoy, along with a dedicated bar area serving the likes of Stone and Wood, Chandon S and Sailor Jerry.

Buskers By The Creek is proudly a free, family and dog friendly festival encouraging event goers to bring a chair or picnic blanket and their spare change to soak up the eclectic atmosphere and unlimited entertainment the event provides.

Attendees are asked to dig deep and tip the incredible entertainers throughout the amazing, two day extravaganza with acts being paid solely through the loose change and generosity of the crowds.

Children of all ages will be well accommodated at the festival with a dedicated Karma Kid’s Zone providing age appropriate entertainment, circus acts to inspire and intrigue, plus arts and craft and more.

To make the event accessible, plenty of parking options are available including the oval at Currumbin Primary School for a small fee. There will also be a dedicated drop off zone for those wanting to drop off family and friends safely before finding a park.

In an event first, $2 taxi fares per person will be provided by Gold Coast Cabs, enabling festival goers to catch a ride to and from the festival in one of the specially marked maxi taxis from one of the designated pick up locations at a heavily reduced price.

The event is proudly supported by a host of local and small businesses including Coast Creek Country Realty, City of Gold Coast, Cr Gail O’Neill, Cr Daphne McDonald, Gold Coast Airport, Stone and Wood, Chandon S, Sailor Jerry, Gold Coast Graphic Design, Stick It Signs, Gold Coast Barges and Southern Gold Coast.
