Tweed Regional Gallery & Margaret Olley Art Centre
Surrounded by beautiful gardens and lawns and offering panoramic views of the Tweed River, the Tweed Regional Gallery is the perfect place to visit to view first-rate exhibitions.
The Gallery’s six exhibition spaces host a vibrant program of historical and contemporary touring exhibitions of national significance, alongside curated exhibitions of established national and regional artists. The program includes the $20,000 Olive Cotton Award for photographic portraiture. The Gallery’s collection includes a world class collection of portraits representing Australians from all walks of life.
Visitors can participate in the Gallery’s exciting variety of programs including public events, concerts, exhibition openings, artists’ talks, demonstrations and workshops which cater for all ages. The Gallery also offers a workshop and education area, Gallery Café with indoor and outdoor seating, Gallery Shop and research library.
The Gallery offers daily, guided tours of current exhibitions for the public. These are hosted by our trained Volunteer Gallery Guides at 11.30am Wednesdays to Sundays. The tours last approximately 40 – 45 minutes and provide a glimpse into the history of the Gallery and the exhibitions on display, including the Margaret Olley Art Centre.
To join the free tour, meet the Gallery Guide at the front foyer before 11.30am. Bookings are not necessary unless you are a small group (10 or under) wishing to join the tour.
The Gallery Shop presents an extensive range of quality gifts and handcrafted items with a focus on work by nationally recognised local artists and designers. The Gallery Shop also stocks a range of merchandise reflecting the Collection, as well as a changing range of speciality exhibition merchandise and publications which complement the touring program.
